Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment for Chalazion

A chalazion is a slowly enlarging nodule which can be seen on the eyelid.  Most of these growths are not very painful but tend to keep on increasing in size, and most affected individuals commonly present with this condition because of cosmetic concerns.  A chalazion may persist for several weeks or months, and is usually quite resistant to medical treatment.  Ophthalmologists usually advise surgical removal of the chalazion; however, most affected individuals are reluctant to opt for surgical removal because of concerns of damage to the eye or eyelid.

Ayurvedic herbal treatment is very effective in treating and completely curing chalazion.  Simple herbal medicines which have an anti-inflammatory effect are used for the treatment of chalazion.  These medicines gradually reduce the swelling, which usually disappears in a month or to.  The advantage of using Ayurvedic herbal medicines for the treatment of chalazion is that most affected individuals do not report any recurrences after using these medicines.  Recurrences can possibly occur if modern medicines or other conventional treatments have been utilised in the treatment of chalazion.

Chalazion usually occurs in the oil secreting glands within the eyelid due to inflammation and obstruction.  An inflammation of these glands near the eyelashes can result in a painful swelling which is known as stye. These swellings can usually be treated successfully with the help of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications, as well as painkillers.  Localized treatment in the form of ointments and mild fomentation also helps to reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling.  A stye usually lasts for one or two weeks and can be treated with modern medicines; however a chalazion typically lasts for a much longer time and can be treated completely and successfully with Ayurvedic herbal medicines.

Ayurvedic herbal treatment is thus very effective in the management and treatment of chalazion.  Ayurvedic treatment can also be utilised for the successful treatment of stye.
