Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment for Infertility

This article will discuss the role of Ayurvedic herbal treatment in infertility. The commonest presentations of infertility are as follows:
Reduced sperm count and/or poor sperm quality of husband: Ayurvedic medicines are unique in the sense that these are probably the only medicines which can dramatically improve both sperm count as well as quality in a short time, in a predictable manner, and are completely safe even for long-term use! The additional bonus is that some Ayurvedic medicines can also improve sexual performance, and are very useful in individuals with erection and ejaculation issues. Psychological, neurological and vascular conditions related to impaired sexual performance can also be treated successfully.
Anovulatory cycles in the wife: Failure of regular ovulation can be treated by using simple herbal and herbo-mineral medicines, which act on the brain, thyroid, uterus, as well as ovaries and bring about a regularisation of the female reproductive system. Primary ovarian failure (POF) in a young age can also be treated on the same principles. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is also responsible for failure of ovulation, and needs to be treated separately.
Blockage in the fallopian tubes and undeveloped uterus or cervix (mouth of the uterus), are other common causes of infertility in the female, which can be treated successfully with Ayurvedic medicines. Some women have repeated conceptions; however, the pregnancy is not carried successfully to full term. Various causes can be responsible for this, including chromosomal abnormalities, TORCH infections, sperm antibodies, and an unhealthy inner uterine lining. Specific Ayurvedic treatment according to the known cause can be given in order to bring about a successful and normal conception.
Finally, some couples have unexplained infertility, where the cause cannot be pin-pointed. Long-term treatment with Ayurvedic medicines on general principles of infertility treatment helps the majority of such couples to achieve successful conception. It would be noteworthy to add here that the Ayurvedic treatment of infertility is comparatively very safe and quite cost-effective.
