Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment for Klinefelter Syndrome

Klinefelter syndrome is a chromosomal disorder caused by the presence of an additional X-chromosome in affected individuals.  This disorder causes male hypogonadism and infertility, with symptoms such as small testes, low sperm count, breast enlargement in late puberty, learning disabilities, psychosocial problems, infertility, dental problems, mitral valve prolapse, and venous ulcers.

Ayurvedic herbal treatment for Klinefelter syndrome is aimed at correcting the hypogonadism, improving symptoms related to infertility, and providing corrective treatment for faulty development of the brain, nervous system and connective tissue of the body.  Ayurvedic herbal medicines providing hormonal correction are used in high doses.  These medicines act on the testes and help in normalizing the secretion of sex hormones.  This helps to correct and normalize the growth of different organs and connective tissue within the body.  Ayurvedic herbal medicines are also given to directly strengthen the connective tissue in the entire body, as well as strengthen and improve the function of the nervous system, muscles, tendons, arteries and veins.

Ayurvedic treatment is also provided to work on the cells of the body so as to prevent or minimise the effects of the faulty chromosome to the maximum extent possible, so that benefits obtained from treatment are maintained on a long-term basis, and the requirement for medicines is minimized.  Such medicines need to be taken on a long-term basis in order to be clinical effective.  Most individuals affected with Klinefelter syndrome get significant symptomatic relief with about 6 to 12 months of treatment.  Herbal treatment can be continued as required, with some individuals being advised regular treatment in very low doses, while other individuals may be prescribed a drug-holiday for a few months.

Ayurvedic treatment can significantly improve the quality of life of individuals affected with Klinefelter syndrome.  Ayurvedic herbal treatment thus has a significant role to play in the management and treatment of Klinefelter syndrome.
